Clubs, libraries, Wcturesr r &c, were more,* efficacious remedies thSn the Bill for intemperande. , De' Latour m erring to the Good Templar circulars, said the unfortunate 'zeal of, a few,- prejudiced a good' cause. ;He> thought Local Option should be equal to" either,* grant or refuse licenses. If compensation was due \i should be paid from license fees. Murray Aynsley oppose 4 the Bill generally. He strongly insisted thai the compensation money for it should be raised by a local rate. * Pyke refused to recognise the- claim > for compensation. Prohibiting simply encouraged sly grog selling.
