Next week will be a busy, and an exciting one m Palmerston. An imposing programme is prepared, in' every item of which the inhabitants; are expected to bear an important part. . We will give a forecast of the events to be, which we hope our readers will -keep m memory. First of all, : on Monday, comes the important declaration that Palmerston has a Mayor, and* who that Mayor is. On Monday evening, at ; the i 3forI Testers' Hall, there is to be a dramatic I entertainment, comprising a farce i and a comedy m 3 acts. The stage is .now. being fitted ..up for the purpose, and by ;the time Monday night arrives, it will be resplendent m the blaze of footlights. On Wednesday takes place the election of Councillors, when' the sentence of the rate'payera will go forth for and against the gentlemen who aspire to niuriici-. pal honors. On Thursday night is the grand, inaugural" ball, which^is far from being least 'in the esteem, of many of . our townsfolk. Lastly, there is the election of Auditors for Friday. All these events are of stirring interest, and it is unprecedented" m the history of the township tp have so many crowded into one week. We. . trust the Palmerstonians will rise to the occasion, and 1 as much is required of them m. the ! way of patronage, and, the exercise of judgment, we feel pretty sure- .they will try and satisfy these expectations. ■ "
