Tuesday.* Mrs Reid's acquittal causes much dissatisfaction. Mr "W". Conyers, .the 'manager of- the Otago railways, was entertained at a public dinner on Saturday night,"previous to his removal to Christchurch ; Sir Dillfen Bell occupied the ' chair. In reply io the toast of his health, Mr Conyers said that the Otago railways were now earning £180,000 per annum, and that the railways of Otago and Canterbury will earn close upon half amillion.
