' Wellington, Friday. The House meff at 2.80 p.m. Sitting was chiefly taken up m discussing the Address m Reply, which was moved by Mr Beet ham and seconded by Mr Sutton — botlrbricfly. Ea«h considered there were omissions m the speech, such as all want of reference to commerce, manufactures, etc. . Mr De Latour took exception to the paragraph referring to the late Sir Donald McLean as unconstitutional. Wallis~and Thompson also condemned the speech on various grounds. ' Several Bills were introduced, and read a first time. Whitaker replying. Bums said certain proposals regard--ing native claims m the Middle Island would be submitted during the session. All principal sessional committees were appointed. >■ The first division of'the session was taken upon an amendment by Mr Murray, who moved that the committee appointed to provide for the comfort and convenience of both Houses be instructed to arrange so that any expenditure incurred should not fall upon the. revenue of the Colony. The motion was lost by 34 against. 26. The Premier will ask for an imprest supply on Tuesday, and either on Fri■day or Tuesday week will make his financial staCemen.t. Sir G-. Grey wanted everyone-excluded from Bellamy's but members. ■- The House adjourned nt 2.30 till Tuesday.
