WELLINGTON.
June 15., Thomas Daly, a fireman on board the Hinemoa, was found drownedon Te Aro beach this morning. He was last seen alive at ten o'clock somewhat, under the influence of liquor.^ June 16. - Captain Bonner, of the steamer Tui, had his certificate suspended for six months and was ordered to pay costs. ' The charge of drunkenness was not proved, but gross misconduct in.taking the Manawatu bar when signalled not.to do so, and for steaming round the Napier and thus causing the collision. ' Tuesday. ' At the adjourned meeting of the Licensing-- Bench to-day,' it was decided, on Question aske<J by Mir Ollivier, acting for the ' Local Licensed Victuallers Association, that.no extra fee was^required where an hotel had more than one bar.' . . The Wennington, barque, has arrived from London, 116 days out. ' She brings 38 government immigrants, and a few saloon passengers. Experienced rough weather on voyage and lost a valuable entire horse during a gale. It is stated that a compromise has been effected- with Kirchefer and Slowman, who claimed compensation for non-fulfilment of contract made by^the late Dr Feathers ton with these gentlemen for the introduction to New Zealand of 4,000 German immigrants, the Colony to pay Kirchefer five hundred and Slowman three thousand (exclusive ( of passage money for Eitz Eeuter.immigrants) m full of all demands. Slowman's claim was twenty thousand.
