Soon after the sudden death of the late Rev. F. C. Simmons,^principal of. Nelson •^College, a subscription was begun amongst' those who had been his pupils at the college to raise a sum sufficient toifouqd an annual prize m his memory. Fifty, pounds haying been thus subscribed, the Governors of the If elson .College generously gave a" like sum, so that the prize fund now ampuhts to;£100^ At the wish of the subscribers, the prize : will be termed the . <f Simmons Classical ;Prize."^Times.''
