Monday. The following is the state of the poll of the ratepayers* for,' and against Climies' drainage scheme for the city of Wellington: -Ayes, 538; Noe#, 239. It is stated on good authority that the report circulated about the disagreement amongst Ministers is absolutely incorrect. During late frequent meetings of the Cabinet, all members being present, Ministers have cordially, agreed on the measures to be submitted to Parliament. The Government have for some time been m communication wrth Sir W. Jervois and Colonel Scratchley, with a view to obtain their professional- opinion- on : the defence of the New Zealand harbours. Latest advices render it most probable that these officers will visit New Zealand after reporting for the Victorian Government. Wednesday. A meeting of the creditors of H. J. Brewer, of Foxton, was called for to-, day. No creditors appeared, and the meeting was adjourned till to-morrow. Beauchamp Campbell & Co. sold today the allotment of land m Willis r streeff on which Asher's shop stands at £43* per foot. The adjoining lot fetched £39 per foot.
