Sunday. Iquique, on the west coast of South America has been destroyed by an earthquake. The debate m the British House of Commons on Gladstone's resolutions relative to Turkey has been continued. The majority of the Conservatives urge neutrality. The Liberals are divided, some favoring the dismemberment of Turkey, others disagreeing with Gladstone. Sir Stafford Northcote, m the House of Commons, said, that although Russia might blockade and even invade Egypt, the policy of the Government was strict heutraHty. There was no reason why EjgjjPshould fight when the road to ImH^Ss untouched. TMLr Gladstone's motion was rejected by 304 to 228. Wolfe's amendment, declaring that the House declines to entertain any resolution hampering the Government without indicating an alternative policy, was carried without a division.
