WELLINGTON.
Monday. Signors Vescavo and Pani, Italian sculptors, have just completed the statue of the late Dr. Featherston, m Carara marble. It cost 200 guineas, and is considered the finest work of art ever seen m the colony. They are specially requested to remain here till the formal unveiling, which takes place next week at the museum. They then A go to Melbourne, "under contract for the O'Connell statue, the price of which is to be 2,000 guineas. Wednesday. .A Fragments of wreckage have been j washed ashore at the pilot station. It is believed they formed portions of the schooner Theresa totally wrecked m Cloudy Bay,. which have been drifted across by the late prevailing southerly / weather. . ■'■. The steamer Go- Ahead went ashore f at Poverty Bay, this morning. It is y hoped she will be got off next fide. Friday. Sailed — Elizabeth for Foxton, yesterday.
