.;■ "..;.-/,■ * March 24. ->£■ The Native Minister, accompanied by Majors ,Mair and Kobertsj Mr Mackay and Captain Mair, held a meeting yesterday with Manga and the/ assembled natives. Manga opened the proceedings by formally laying down the boundary over which the King's, mana must be .recognised. - This tibun-^ dary runs -from Horokoro to Attamuri, and Whangatnatta; Lake :Taupp, and if recognised, would shut up the Tokqroa country between Atiamuri and Cambridge, and defer to an unknown date the/opening up of the. main line of road! to the latter place. After^Bewi's speech, ' the • Ngatiraukawau chiefs addressed the Native Minister- vehemently, and nearly unanimously /repudiated the King s boundary hud down by Manga, and asserted their determination to deal with -their ancestral; lands of Tokorda v in. whatever way they deemed best, and requested that the question of. owner T ship be settled by the Native Land Court, and the roads opened, declaring that such was - the ■ full and matured * policy of the large majority of the Ngatiraukawa tribe. The meeting was adjourned till next day.
