March 10. This morning Mr Gisborne proposed that the sittings of the University Senate be open to the public. Mr Carleton moved to pass on to the next order of the day. A division was taken.. For the amendment — members present, Mr Carleton, Rev. Johnston, Eev. Buddie. Against — members present, Messrs. Gisborne, Grace, Heale, Eev. Andrew. Mr Carleton put m proxies of Messrs. Stafford and Bolleston for the amendment, and Mr Johnstone put m proxy of the Eev. Stuart for the same. The motion is still open to be brought up again. .
