PALMERSTON NORTH LOCAL BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting was held m the Board Room on Saturday, the 12th March, 1877. COMMISSIONERS present. Messrs Linton (Chairman), Walton, and McDouall. minutes. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. correspondence. The following letters were laid before the Board. Letter from the Treasury, requesting to be informed at what Bank the account of the Board is kept. Letter from the Chairman of the County Council, re the appointment of a County Engineer. Resolved, — That a reply be sent stating that at the present time there is no necessity for the services of an Engineer m this district* . *_ „ Letter from H. S. Palinerson, resigning his scat at the Board. Letter from H. S. Palmerson, applying for permission to fence across Boundary Road. Resolved, — That permission be granted, provided a 9-foot gate be erected and hung so that a person on horseback could open it witli ease, the same to be removed on notice from the Board to that effect. The Secretary was authorised to appear at the Assessment Court on behalf of the Board, to obtain certain alterations m the valuation list. ACCOUNTS PRESENTED. Buller and Lewis, solicitor's charges connected with Bye-laws and other Board matters, £12 Bs. lid. Besolved. — That the solicitors be written to asking for a fair copy of the Bye-laws. ACCOUNTS PASSED FOR PAYMENT. Working Overseer, wages, £8 155. ; Stationery account, &c, £3 6s. 3d. ; Ah Tong, office table, £2 6s. Resolved, — That Councillor W. MeDouall be Treasurer m room of H. S. Palmerson, Esq., resigned. Board to meet again on Saturday, April 7th, 1877.
