The " Pafcea Mail " of recent date says : — Mr Gibson, who has been doing a tour north, including a .visit to the celebrated Taupo Lakes, returned to town by way of New Plymouth yesterday, coming on here by the. Mountain road. Mr Gibson was one amongst many who discredited the account first published m the Auckland " Star," . of a decrepit Maori boy being kept alive for several months m one of the hot springs. The boy was still m the water when Mr Gibson arrived there, being fed and having his wants attended to as related m the newspapers. The boy died before MiGibson left the lakes. The Waimate people, says the "Post," evidently belong to that sect called " Peculiar," as they are continually advertising for partners m the matrimonial line. This is the latest from the " Wait angi Tribune " —."Wanted, by a young lady of prepossessing appearance, a partner for life. Apply, X.Y.Z., Post-office, Waimate." If that young lady will send us her " photo," and satisfactory credentials that she can be "warranted 1 moral and free from Vice," she ■will probably— in the. event of the photo coming up to expectation — not be long m getting " mated."
