O'Shea reports produce prices as follows : — Flour, nominal, % old, good, £15 to £15 10s, new — to ' arrive, £12 10s ; oats, 3s 3d, old scarce ; chick wheat, 2s 6d to 3s 6d ; pollard, 6s to 7s ; maize, 4s 6d to 4s 9d ; cheese, 8d to 9d ; potatoes, 80s to 110s : bacon, 9ck Wanoantti, Thursday. The Steam Packet Hotel and land on the Quay, together with several sections m St. Hill and Guyton streets, were submitted fo public competition by Mr F. R. Jackson on Wednesday last. The valuable nature of the investment attracted a numerous audience. The hotel was withdrawn at the bid of £3,000, but negotiations will probably be satisfactorily concluded by private transaction. Two sections m St. Hill-sfcreet realised together nearly £400, Mr Whitworth Russell, of Waitotara, being the purchaser. Lots Nos. 4 and 5 were passed m, as they did not fetch reserve prices. Messrs Barns and Wilson announce the sale of a consignment of Nelson fruit for to-day (Saturday). They will also submit a large assortment of furniture and household effects. Cheistchuech, Friday. The weather during the week has been favorable for the harvest, and farmers are only getting their crops into stacks during the fine weather. There will be no deliveries of new grain worth mentioning for the next ten days. The markets are very unsettled, and no reliable export quotations can be given. Millers are offering 4s 6d to 4s 9d for good sound milling wheat, and 2s 6d to 3s for inferior samples ; oats, Is lOd to 2s is offered m Christchurch ; flour, £15 m sacks, for old quality, no new m the market j cheese, s£d to 6d ; butter, 9d. As soon as threshing becomes general it is expected that prices will steady a little.
