TO THE EDITOB. Sir, — I see by the report of the" last meeting of the Manawatu County Council that they have given their account to the Bank of Australasia. Surely this was done without giving the matter due consideration. This is a great injustice to ratepayers. Had the Council called for tenders I am sure they would have obtained much better terms. Had this been done," m all probability they would have obtained interest on the balances of current account when m funds, and might have been charged less than current rates on advances. In any way I look at the case there is evident advantage to be had by the ratepayers. Now, sir, I should like to ask the Councillors if they are to receive interest on the deposits, and what rate they are to pay for overdrafts. My own impression is that they are not obtaining half such liberal terms as they would do if they called for tenders, It is not too late for this mistake to be rectified, and the Councillors will not be doing justice to the ratepayers if they do not do so. There is yet time for the Council to call for tenders before confirming the resolution of their last sitting, and I call upon them to dd so m the interests of the ratepayers. I am, &c, Hatbpayek.
