WELLINGTON.
Feburary 3. It rained heivily the greater part of the night, and is raining still. The weather is very thick and unpromising. There is no likelihood of the English cricketers playing to-day, the Wellington not yet having arrived at Picton. Tuesday. In consequence of the heavy rains the cricket match did not, begin before 4p.m. There were then seven of the Wellington men to go m. In 17 minutes these were all out for seven runs, which brought the score of the Wellington team up to 31, the 25 put up yesterday being, a -j mistake — it should ; have been 24. Lockett sent a skier which was missed by Hood. At 4.35 Shaw and Selby went to the wickets, Annitage and Cross bowling and Mace wicket keeping. : Play continued* till 5.35, _ when Shaw was clean bowled by Cross ' after having made 25, consisting of two hits for four (all! to square- leg), three 3's, and the rest singles. Selby's were all singles, but one 2. There were 5 wides and , 1 bye; Another shower coming oh play was stopped, to be resumed to-morrow at,, 10 o'clock. The Wellington bowling was pretty fair, there several maiden ojers for Armitage Garwood, who . bowled more than Cross.
