Ayes— Clergy^ 6 ; Laity, 10. Noes-— Bishops,; 5 ; Gler^v, 11; Laity, 4. Archdeacon Maunsell moved another amendment— " That the Churches of England ; and New. Zealand are two Qhurches independent and distinct m government hut qne.ih constitution-and formularies." The Bishop of Nelson proposed an adjournment of the debate, which was lost on a division. Archdeacon; Maun sell's amendment" was negatived oh the voices. The Synod then adjourned^ A
