WELLINGTON.
Wednesday. The Executive have decided that the sentence of death passed on Woodgate, for the Blenheim murder, is to be carried out, notwithstanding the petition presented on his behalf. Mr Stafford, of the firm of Moorhouse and Stafford, retires from the partnership having been appointed assistant law officer. Judge Richmond, who has just returned from England, will be stationed at Wellington with the Chief Justice, and will go on a curcuit from here. Friday. The execution of Woodgate ig ordered for 8 a.m. on Wednesday morning, at Picton. In the Toxward v. Hastwell case the jury have just returned a general verdict for defendant. No damages. The s.s. "Napier" leaves Foxton tomorrow (Saturday) m the forenoon, and will leave Wellington on Wednesday next at noon, returning from Foxton on Thursday afternoon.
