Tuesday. To-day is a wet and miserable day, and the races at Ellerslie.are but moderately attended. Maiden Plate of 80 soys, with a sweepstake of 4 soys each ;1£ miles. Hunt's Skylark, aged, 9st slbs, 1 ; Collins Derby, 5 years, 9st 41bs, 2 ; Buckland's Aconite, 3 years, 7st 31bs, 3. Skylark led to the stand, when Fanny Fisher colt came through the horses easily, but ran inside a post and was disqualified. Skylark won by a length and a half. The Auckland Cup Handicap of 200 soys, with a sweep of 10 sove each added ; 2* miles. Mr Watt's Ariel, 4 years, Bst 2lbs, 1 ; Mr Kay's Danebury, 3 years, 7st lOlbs, 2; Mr Walters' Izaak Walton, 4 years, 6st 121bs. 3. A quarter of a mile from the start The Belle fell and broke her shoulder. She rolled over upon her rider, but he escaped uninjured. Ariel won by two lengths. The Belle was shot by Captain Fraser her owner. Publicans' Purse of 50 soys, with a sweepstake of 2 soys each ; weight for age ; one mile. Mr Bay's Fallacy, 3 I years, 1 ; Mr McG-ee's Perfume, 6 years, 12. Only the two horses stared. Perfume took the lead, but was collared by J Fallacy who won easily. " . Grand Stand Handicap of 100 soys, with : a -sweepstake of 5 soys each ; If miles. Mr J. Watt's Ariel, 4 years, 1 ; Mr Ray's Tommy Dodd, aged, 2 ; Mr Walters' Izaak Walton, 4 years, 3. Tui and Medea also ran. This was a capital race, the whole of the horses passing the stand m line ; but Ariel, Izaak Walton, and Tommy Dodd went out. leaving the others well m rear. Ariel then forged ahead and won easily. The otherjtwo had a neck-and-neck race for second place. For the Hurry Scurry Mignonette came m first and Polentall second. Handicap Steeplechase of 100 soys, with a sweepstake of 5 soys each ; distance about 8 miles, over fair hunting country. Mr McGee's Perfume, 6 years, lOst 71bs, 1 ; Messrs McEae and Nicholson's Butcher Boy, aged, list lOlbs, 2. Islesman was nowhere. Auckland Plate of 100 soys, with a sweepstake of 5 soys each ; 2 miles. Mr Watt's Ariel, 4 years, 1 ; Mrßay's Danebury 2. Sprig of Shillelagh and Fanny Fisher colt were scratched. Wednesday. Selling Race— Tommy Dodd, 1; Skylark, 2. Only two ran. The betting -was 2 to 1 on Tommy Dodd. Stewards' Plate— Mr Me Gee's May Moon. 1 ; Mr Walters' lzaak Walton, 2..
Fallacy was nowhere. Betting was even on Fallacy, who slipped down at the turn for home when half a length behind the winner. Consolation fcace — Gainsborough, 1 < Don, 2 ; Tui, 3. Medea also ran.
