,'r- Friday. | Owen Cummins was tried for an unmentionable offence. The jury found him guilty of attempt only, and he will be sentenced on Monday morning next. Eliza Smith; charged . with concealment of birth, and her mother with being accessory, were acquitted. Sir Donald McLean died about 4 o'clock this afternoon. • Parliament has been further prorogued to 13th April. Mr Donald Reid has been appointed Minister of Lands and Immigration : Mr Ormond, Minister of Public Works. At the Supreme Court this morning McCann, an elderly man convicted of rape on a young girl, was sentenced to 12 years' hard labor and two whippings of 30 lashes each. Coleman has been convicted of an attempt to murder his wife, and sentence deferred till Monday.
