MR. GLADSTONE AND PROFESSOR HOLLOWAY.

o : In one of his speeches on the Turkish war Mr G-ladstone compared the efficacy of his own policy to the purifying effects of Holloway's pills, and it seems that the metaphor has proved better than an advertisement to the great drugvendor. This is what the London correspondent of a Dublin paper says on the subject : — In recognition of the great service rendered him by Mr Gladstone on the occasion of the recent meeting at Blackheath, Professor Holloway has, I understand, sent Mrs Gladstone a cheque" for no less a sum than £500 towards the funds of her Convalescent Home. It will be remembered that <at the Blackheath gathering tlie ex-Premier went out of his way when declaiming against the outrageous conduct of the Turks m Bulgaria / to expatiate on the valuable curative qualities of Holloway's pills. Ever since the demand for this miraculous medicine has been on the increase to such an extent, that the supply hardly keeps pace with the demand, though the member for Greenwich is not among the I patronisers of the patent medicine. The proprietors of Cockle's and Parr's pills are, I understand, quite prepared with handsome contributions tor Mrs Gladstone's sanitary retreat upon the understanding that when next he addresses his constituents he will commend their specifics to at least as favourable consideration as he bestowed upon the Holloway health restdrer.
