STATEMENT BY MINISTER

WELLINGTON, Oct. 2. A statement that the police had the matter in hand was made by'the Minister in Charge of Prisons Department (Dr. McMillan) yesterday m connection with the incident at Auckland. Dr. McMillan, when asked to comment upon the escape of the four missing men, said that till a - full inquiry into the circumstances had been held it was not proposed to make a statement oil the case.
