MEDICALLY UNFIT.
CLARIFYING STATEMENT
SOME REQUIRED TO ENROL
Per Press Association
WELLINGTON, Oct. 2.
The Minister of National Service (Hon. R. Semple) stated to-day that there seemed to be a fairly widespread belief-that men who volunteered for service with the Armed Forces and bad been found to fall short of the required physical standard were not required to register as members of the General Reserve or to be in the possession of a certificate of enrolment. Such, however,' was not tho case. The Minister added that men .who were discharged from the Forces as medically unfit after service overseas wore not members of the reserve, but" others who voluntered, whether for ovrscas service or home defence, and bad been classified as medically unfit either before or after the commencement of training were required to be enrolled.
