WELLINGTON, Sept. 30. Under the heading of “obstruction of essential industries” an amendment to the public safety emergency regulations empowering tho Attorney-General to order the dismissal of any worker in the interests of public safety was Gazetted to-night. T'ho Minister may order the termination of any employee’s engagement should he consider this necessary for the effective prosecution of the war or the maintenance of essential industries.

The necessary notice ,may be served on either the employee or 'his employer and the man concerned shall not bo re-engaged by the same employer without the Minister’s consent. The term “employee” is held to cover the holder of any office in an organisation. The Attorney-General is also empowered to exclude any person from being or becoming a member of any industrial union or association, or other organisation of employers or workers if he considers this necessary or expedient in the interests of public safety. Any person so excluded shall not be readmitted to the organisation without the prior written consent of the Attorney-General. Right of appeal to the Court of Arbitration is provided and the Court may confirm, modify, or reverse the decision appealed from, but no decision shall be reversed unless the Court is satisfied that the acts which the decision was intended to prevent are not likely to be committed.
