HEAVY ATTACKS

(United Press Association—Copyright.) (British Official Wireless.) (Ree. 1.43 p.m.) RUGBY, Sept. 29. An R.A.F. communique issued at Cairo states that enemy air activity in the Western Desert on Saturday was slight. Ii.A.F. bombers made an attack on an enemy lorry convoy 15 miies west of Bardia. A salvo of bombs tell a tew yards ahead of the’leading lorry. The enemy positions at Fort Maddalena were bombed, and mechanical transport concentrations south-west of oidi Barrahi were also attacked, ail the bombs falling in the target area. in Abyssinia, the Combolica —Dessye —aerodrome was attacked and direct hits were obtained on a hangar, the doors of which were blown off. Bombs also exploded on the' adjacent barracks and compound. Operating from the Sudan, R.A.F. bombers raided Gurall, bombs fulling in the target area. It was impossible to estimate i*t the time the amount of damage. Reconnaissance flights were undertaken by the South African Air Force squadrons on Friday unci Saturday. From all the operations our aircraft returned safely. A Cairo message states that Australian troops are in the Western Desert. They are completing their training there preparatory to joining the British, Indian and French troops in operations against the Italians. A Cairo communique states that in Kenya on Friday enemy aircraft bombed Bura, causing no casualties. A patrol engagement at Wa] Garis resulted in twelve of the enemy being killed. I
