MARTON, Sept. 29. At, the unnuai mceiing of the Rangitikei Cricket Association, Air 11. F. Arkwright presided. It was decided to advise the New Zealand Cricket Council that the association is not in favour of carrying on the Hawke Cup Competition this season. The election of officers resulted :l’resident, Mr Arkwright; vice-presidents, Messrs J. H. C. Broad, G. G. Oliver, J. D. Smith, G. L. Marshall, and N. V. Rix-Trott; treasurer, Mr Tidy; secretary, Alt- C. S. Beechcy; auditor. Air D. B. Sladden; committee, Alessrs D. A. Cameron (Porcwa), G. C. Birch (AJarton). A. IT. AJcLcan (Ohakea Air Force), and R... Baker (Huntcrvillc). The Old Boys delegate i« -to be appointed at a later date.
At, the l’orowa Cricket Club’s annual meeting, the election of officers resulted. — President, Air D. A. Cameron; vicepiesidents, eight were elected; captain and selector, Mr Al. Marshall; vice-captain, Mr A. Fullerton-Smith; secretary and treasurer, Mr R. Al. H. Parkinson; auditor, Air J. IT. C. Broad; committee, A loses P. Chapman, A. B. Alarshall and -AL Smith; delegates to Rangitikei Cricket Association, Alcssrs D. A. Cameron, A. J 3. Alarshall, R. Parkinson and A. Fuller-ton-Smith.
A stroke competition played by ; the Hawkcstonc Ladies’ Golf Club was won by Alts Wincotnbe, with a score of 92 — 24 —68. A putting competition was won bv AJiss Cummins.
Sccond-Licutcnant. N. R. Ingle, attached to the Fourth Reinforcements, is at homo in Alarum on sick leave.
A bogey competition played by the Marton Ladies’ Golf Club resulted: Mrs Morrison, 3 down; Airs Grut, 7 down; Mi6s Swan, 9 down. The Rangitikei Ladies’ Hockey Associa-' lion held a dance on Friday, when the president of the Association (Mr W. (!. Aitken) presented the trophies, all of which were won by the Kia Ora Club, with the exception of the scaled handicap trophy, which was won by Hunterville. A game of bowls, between teams chosen by the president (Mr F. A. Heinpleman) and the vice-president (Mr J. D. Gorric) was played on the Marton bowling green on Saturday afternoon and resulted in a win for the latter team by 106 points to 87.
The closing run of the harrier season for members of the Marton Club was held on Saturday afternoon. It took the form of a combined men’s and ladies’ handicap run and resulted as follows: Airs A. J. Ilolden' and J. Holden 1. Miss K. Hurley and L. Hunt 2, Mrs J. Taylor and J. Taylor 3, Airs F. Hill and S. Crowther 4, Aire J. Ilorgan and D. Stent 5. Airs S. .Hurley and F..: Hill 6. At the final meeting of the season- of the management committee of the Rangitikei Rugby Sub-Union, Mr L. Bull presided. A sub-committce consisting of Messrs L. Bull, 1. Jolly and K. A. 'Williams was set up to consider an amendment to the benevolent fund rules to provide for better benefits to injured players and to provide for cases of hardship. Thanks wero expressed to the Referees' Association for the way in which they had kept travelling expenses down during the past season.
