FOXTON RACES

MAIDEN EVENT DIVIDED. GOOD SUN’S HURDLES. (By “Spectator.”) There was a larce attendance for the Foxton Racine; Club’s spring meeting today. the weather being line. The track was in good order. • SANCTION AND SWEET ANNE. The firet division of the Trial Stakes was almost confined to four horses and these fought out the finish almost, in line. Sanction winning by half a neck. Loyal Queen took over the load from Blue Border, Sanction and Social Credit, and was first into the straight, with the other three in a bunch behind her. In the run homo Sanction got up to win narrowly, the next being Social Credit, Blue Border and Loyal Queen. 'The second division was won in an easy manner bv Sweet Anne, who has been giving some consistent performances of late. Sweet Anno was first to .begin and was not headed. She was going away at the finish and won by three lengths from Sir Rabbi, while Parchment came up fast to get third money from Master Lackham, with Courting and Royal Vision next. THE HURDLES CONTEST. Good Sun finished on well to win the Paiakn Hack Hurdles, in which Great Fair fell at the last fence when in the lead and going well. The winner was behind ihe leaders until the straight was reached. High Peer tried to win all the way, but Great Fair caught him round the back and was leading in the straight when he fell. Good Sun came up to win narrowly from High Peer, with War Lap and Doradi very close. Next were Karere Nui and Son’ and Heir; the rider of the latter lost a stirrup iron. Golden Memory fell. HONOURS TO KENTUCKY.

Kontucky scored a win full of merit in the Motuiti Hack Handicap, proving too good for the opposition and running the six furlongs in fast time in spite of his weight of 9.6. Beau Coureur was the early leader and then Counter went to the front, but Kentucky was always close and took the lead in the straight, going on to win .comfortably by throe lengths, with Siglow noxt ahead of Valiant Lady. Counter, Triple Crown and Silver Shekel followed. Taiho did not take part in the race; he bolted in a false start, and the field was sent away without him. PEARL OF ASIA SUCCEEDS.

Pearl of Asia scored a good win in the Carnarvon Handicap after an interesting finish, winning by a length from Little Robin.

Winsome Lu and Old Surrey were the early leaders, but Master Cvkloit went to the front at the half-mile. Turning into the straight, Old Surrey and Muster Cyklon led from Winsome Lu and Gaelic Song. 'The winner was well back in the early stages, but made a fast run over the last two furlongs to win on the outside from Little Robin, who came through to beat Winsome Lu narrowly for second place', Next were Hunting Cat, Lady Montana, and the favourite Gaelic Song.
