Mr C. A. Burgess has resigned his seat on the council of the New Zealand Golf Association, • as lie will go into camp next week. Appointments to the Hop Marketing Committee are announced in the Gazette. They are Messrs H. C. Beuke, C. J. Boyes, K. J. Holyoake, S. O’Hara and B- T. Rowling. The following representatives of the woolgrowers have be'en appointed members of the New Zealand Wool Council: Messrs H. D. Acland, L. Maclean, Sir W. Perry and Mr G. C. Warren. The Prime Minister’s son, Mr Randolph Churchill, has been returned unopposed as Conservative member for Preston, replacing the late Mr A. C. Moreing, states a London cablegram.

Mr J. A. Nash was re-elected president of the Manawatu Bowling Centre at the centre’s annual meeting yesterday. It was stated that he now holds the record for the presidency of any howling centre in the Dominion, having completed 26 years in that position.

Appointments to the Tobacco Board are announced in the Gazette. Messrs A. F. Bell and N. Rowling, both of whom retired on July 31, have been reappointed as representatives of the manufacturers and growers, respectively. Messrs C. M. Paynter and M. H. Thorn replace Messrs A. H. Spratt and H. A. Thorn as representatives of the manufacturers and growers, respectively.
