(From Our Own Correspondent.; ' O’i’AKl, Sept. 26. Mr and' Mrs Watts leave on Monday for Riwsell on holiday. The death has occurred of Mrs T. Reach, a well-known resident, aged 98 years. She had lived for many years in Otaki. Tho annual egg drive for tho Karitanc Hospital resulted in 16 dozen eggs being despatched from Te lloro 13 dozen of which were collected by the school children.

Petty thefts conlinuo to take place in Otaki and district, and it is reported that even newly-born lambs have been stolen. A young man, Thomas Gordon, appeared before Messrs P. H. G. Bennett and H. Nicolson, J.P.’s, charged with breaking and entering with intention to commit a crimo. Hr C. F. Atmore appeared for accused, who pleaded not guilty and was committed to the Palmerston North Supremo Court for trial, bail being allowed.
