NATIONAL PARTY.

There was an excellent attendance at the monthly meeting of the women’s section of the National Party. Mrs A. F. Fitz Herbert took the.chair until the arrival of the president (Mrs W. F. Field). Votes of sympathy were accorded Airs J. Edwards in the death 9f her brother, Air Barnett; Airs Field in the death of her aunt, Airs Bryant; and the relatives of the late Air A. E. dull, AI.P. The treasurer reported having handed over a donation of £5 os to the Fighter Plane Fund.

Mrs Fitz Herbert and Airs Gowing were asked to represent the members at the Townswomen’s Guild birthday party.

Airs D. Black reported that the last of the series of bridge afternoons had been held and was most successful. Alesdames Gowing and H. A. Seifert and Aliss Warburton were thanked for donating aggregate prizes. Airs Gillott presented a comprehensive report of the smooth running of the war work, the sending of 140 garments to the United Guild, 4£ dozen tins of coffee and milk and 24 knitted comforts to the minesweepers’ circle, and 59 garments to Trentham Camp, with a further 30 ready. Aliss Warburton, on behalf of the club, thanked the committee for a donation of matting, also the volunteer helpers in the tearooms. A most successful bridge afternoon had been organised by a sub-committee of the minesweepers. A gratifying increase was reported in the attendance at the junior weekly meeting and also at the flag bridge. A “bring and buy” afternoon is to be held next month for the London Relief Fund. Thanks to the generosity of Airs Hartog and the energy of Aliss Murray, a competition had been held and won by Airs Johnson. The action of the executive was endorsed in appointing delegates and a nominee ; to the Women's War Service Auxiliary, Airs Whyte and Aliss Warburton being delegates and Airs Whyte tlie nominee. Satisfaction was expressed at the election of Airs Whyte to the committee. A report of the meeting was given by the delegates and was followed by an interesting discussion.
