EXTRACT’S FROM “STANDARD.” SEPTEMBER 27. 1910.
The British military airshap Beta had completed 700 miles of 'useful reconnaissance in the army manoeuvres in the west of England. Harland and Wolff, the Belfast shipbuilders, were constructing vessels valued at £5,000.000, including White Star liners to the value of £3,000,000. Tlio Times correspondent at Athens stated that Rumania had promised to mobilise on the Bulgarian frontier in the event of a Turco-Bulgarian war, thus saving Turkey from sending further Asiatic troops to the Bulgarian and Greek frontiers. A circular issued in London by the Secretary for War offered unserviceable rifles and carbines to cadets at a shilling each, and serviceable weapons at 10s each, bayonets 6d extra.
