LOVERS’ LEAP.

In the bright performance of “Lovers’ Leap” given in the Women’s Institute Hall last evening by members of the Pall merston North Repertory Society in aid of patriotic funds, the audience .was provided with a very pleasing revelation as to the progress of dramatic art in. the. city. The sequences were problematical right through, and this gave tho performance a sustained vitality which delighted tho audience from the first curtain to the' climax. Stage settings, details and- costumes, as well as. a thrilling representation of an electrical storm, wore a tribute to the skill and care of the cast and management, and were in keeping with the standard of , stagecraft which afforded patron» such an enjoyable evening. The cast comprised: Holen Storer, Aliss . M. Alortland; Sarah Traille, ■ Aliss B. Rodgers ; Roger Storer, Air G. Driver; Cedric Norreys, Dr. A. do Berry; Poynter. Air E. Davidson. The producer was Air P. Cousins and the stage manager Air F. Bendall. The standard maintained throughout the production was very high indeed, and left the audience well pleased. The Mayor (Mr R. R. Johnston) thanked the society for its assistance and expressed the audience’s appreciation. He also congratulated the producer (Mr Cousins) on the excellent performance, commented upon the attractive stage dressing. He expressed some disappointment . that counter-attractions had mitigated against the attendance being larger, and hoped that in future patriotic efforts would come first.

Mr Cousins, in acknowledgment, expressed the. company’s appreciation of the tribute, and voiced his -own gratitude to the cast for the manner in which they had carried nut their task. What they had done in the past they Would do again to assist patriotic efforts., The visitors were entertained at supper by the lady members of the entertainment committee. Also assisting were the R.S.A. executive members who provided doorkeepers, ushers and ticket-box attendants, while Messrs Whillans and Nielson kindly lent furnishings.
