APPEAL DISMISSED.

INTERPRETATION OF AWARD

The appeal by the Palmerston North. Fire Board against the decision of Mr Gilmour, S.M.. delegate of the Court of Arbitration, in his interpretation of the Wellington district (except Wellington city) fire brigade employees’ award, lias been dismissed by Mr Justice Tyndall. The point at issue was whether the holiday period of 28 days provided for in the award was to count as part of the period which, under the award, qualified, the workers to receive the second and subsequent holiday periods. The Magistrate held that it did. ’. - , “In view of the measure of agreement as to, the customary interpretation in the past of what must be regarded as a somewhat defective clause,” said His Honour in a‘ reserved judgment, “the Court concurs in the finding of the learned. Magistrate and the. appeal is accordingly dismissed.”
