MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
Reserved judgment was given by Air H. P. Lawry, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court yesterday, in a case in which Hector Harris, drover, .of Albert Street, was charged, on the information of Mr A. F. Wimsett, inspector of the Society for tho Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, that, being the owner or having charge of a heifer, he omitted to supply it with proper and sufficient food, shelter and water. Air H. It. Cooper appeared for defendant and Mr Al. H. Oram for the society. His .Worship, said the charge was a ‘’three-barrelled” one. On the evievidence, nothing could be done for the beast in the way of food, and the society had not thought tho position such that it should supply shelter. Defendant said he had made some arrangement with another person about the removal of the beast, but lie appeared quite indifferent to supplying it with water. A conviction was entered, defendant to pay the costs £3 13s.
