REPLY TO COMPLAINTS

Per Press Association

WELLINGTON, Sept. 24. When the Auckland telegram regarding the complaints against the fled Cross continuing to raise iunds for the sick and wounded was referred to Mr J. Abel, who is lion. Dominion treasurer and hon. organiser ior that appeal, he said the appeal finally closed in June, and no individuals or organisations, or even the Council itself, were in order in jrromoting functions or endeavouring to raise funds for the sick and wounded. Everv branch had been circularised to that effect many weeks ago. Oj course, he added, it was still legal for the Joint Council to receive direct donations to the fund, but it was definitely not in order, to promote money-raising functions.
