OLD SURREY LOOKS WELL

TRACK WORK AT AWAPUNI

The course proper was open for fast work at Awapum this morning, and was m good order. There was a slight drizzle. Among the horses given work wore some being prepared for the Foxton meeting. Newbury Queen galloped three lurlongs in 40scc, and Golden Moon took a shade longer lor the same distance. Selkirk went alone over five furlongs, covering tho distance in 1.12. Star Mark, a promising filly, galloped six furlongs, covering this distance in 1 2i.. Old Bill has been given plenty of solid work lately. This morning ho was sent over a mile alone in fairly easy time. Anita Foe is galloping on the tracks again. Her task this morning was three furlongs, which she covered in 45 2-ssec. Saint Tor and a companion galloped three furlongs in 39sec. Old Surrey, Brazil and Raeburn were Companions over seven furlongs. Raeburn was the last away, hut made up ground to finish on terms with Old Surrey, Brazil being several lengths back. The distance was _ coveiod in 1.31 3-5. Old Surrey is looking well after his recent spell. Brazil will be ridden at Foxton by S. Anderson. Classform and Inform wero companions over half a mile. Tho former was several lengths ahead at the finish, when Inform was stopping. Classform was recently given a spell and should show the benefit of -it.

Drake’s Drum had Prutlcr for a companion in a useful gallop over threo furlongs. The former is a youngster by Tlieio.

Gold Chase was sent over sevoral flights of hurdles and, although taking some rather high, gave a satisfactory exhibition.
