The Palmerston North Fire Brigade received a call shortly alter noon today to Knowles. Street, where an outbreak of fire had been detected in a wash-hous'e. The services of the brigade were not required, however. Mr Ishike Kobayassi, manager of the Eastern News, a Japanese news agency in Singapore, who was detained by the •police early last month, was on Saturday released.—British Official AVixeless.
