SLOOP LOST.
VICTIM OF TORPEDO.
(British Official Wireless.) (Rec. 11.15 a.m.) RUGBY, Sept. 22. The Admiralty announces that H.M. sloop Dundee has been torpedoed by •a U-boat. She subsequently sank. H.M.S. Dundee, which was built at Chatham in 1932, had a displacement of about 1100 tons and carried a complement of 100 men. Her armament comprised two 4-inch anti-aircraft guns and 10 smaller weapons. Her speed was 16 knots.
SPANISH SHIP SUNK.
BY ITALIAN SUBMARINE.
Received September 23, 11.20 a.m. GIBRALTAR, Sept. 22. An Italian submarine has torpedoed the Spanish trawler Ahnirante' Carranzo off North-West Spain. There is one survivor. It is believed the submarine mistook the trawler for a British patrol vessel.
