AUCKLAND, Sept. 22.. Two Territorials were kiUed at Tuakau on Saturday night when the motorcycle they were riding left the road near a bridge and jumped 25ft across a stream. They were: LANCE-CORPORAL JOHN AVILLIAAI RIVERS, aged 18, elder.son of Air AV. Rivers, of Russell. PRIVATE PATRICK HENRY TILT, aged 22, son of Air Henry Tilt, of Gienbrookj AA’aiuku. Both were undergoing training at Hopuhopu Camp. They left yesterday afternoon to visit a friend. Apparently no one saw the accident, but this morning a boy saw the machine and the bodies of the two men lying at the edge of the stream about 18ft below the bridge and largely screened by willows.’ A mark on tho roadside indicated that the machine left the tar sealing on a bend and hit a rise on the bank of the stream just outside the bridge railings. This threw it right across the stream, which is about 25ft wide. The motor-cycle came to rest in Sin of water.

FATAL COLLISION.

AYOAIAN PASSENGER KILLED.

AUCKLAND, Sept. 22. A fatal collision occurred at the intersection of the Hinuera, Tauranga, and Matamata Roads yesterday afternoon. The victim was Airs Ida Caroline Gardner, aged 61, of Taumarunui. . Airs Gardner was travelling with her husband, Air David Gardner, a mill manager, of Taumarunui, in a car driven by Air L. R. Pulliam, of Taumarunui! It was involved in a collision with another car driven by Air F. H. Holmes, of Alatamata. Airs Gardner was severely crushed in the chest and died from her injuries in the Matamata Hospital six hours later. The < other occupants of the car driven by Mr Pulham received minor injuries.
