The death has occurred in London of Mr Arnold Anderson Trinder,- senior partner of Trinder and Anderson, a. director of the Australind Steam Shipping Co. and Federal Steam Navigation Co., and a member of the board of the New Zealand Shipping Co. Major T. A. H. Oliphant, M.C., who has been camp commandant at Ngaruawahia lor some months, left recently for Papakura, to take over the command of the Ist Training Battalion. Captain S. T. Seddon, M.C., adjutant at Ngaruawahia, has been promoted to the rank of major, and has been appointed camp commandant.

Mr C. L. Mayo, Chief Postmaster at Palmerston North, will leave for three weeks’ annual holiday at the end of next week. Mr C. E. Brian, of the relieving staff, who is now at Wanganui, will fill the position in Mr Mayo’s absence. Mr Brian was stationed at Palmerston North, being in charge of the mail room, from August, 1932, to June, 1935. The Gazette announces the transfer of Lieutenant W. A. Bryden, Wellington-West Coast Regiment, to the New Zealand Artillery, with attachment to the 3rd Battery, 2nd Field Regiment, N.Z.A. Lieutenant H. M. Blundeii, Manawatu Mounted Rifles, has been transferred to the Reserve of Officers. The appointment of Sergeant 1. C. Young, F Troop, 4th Field Battery. 2nd Field Regiment, N.Z.A., as a second-lieutenant, is also gazetted.
