INCIDENT ON SHIP.

Per Pres,? Association. WELLINGTON, Sept. 20. Stated by counsel to have been locked up ill a ship’s prison with, a bavoneted guard over him all night until he was taken to the police, station, George Arthur Earnworth, a civil servant, pleaded guilty before Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., to a breach of the Shipping Emergency Regulations by going aboard a transport some time ago without a permit. The police' 6aid accused was noticed leaving the ship about 9.45 p.m., and when asked to produce a 7>ass he refused and gave a false name. Later lie admitted his identity and produced a pass which had been cancelled. He was fined £2 with costs'.
