This centre suffered a severe less through the death of the late Mr G. N. Stephenson, who represented Shannon on the centre for some years. He was of a quiet disposition but endeared himself to the bowlers of the centre, and will be ini6sed. A party of the Manawatu Centro bowlers visited California during the past season, taking part in the Californian tournament. They speak in glowing terms of the hospitality of the Californian bowlers and' had a most enjoyable time. The members were Messrs S. Layliss, D. Morris. J. Boniface, J. O’Shea and M. Lee. During the year Mrs Smith, wife Of Mr E. M. Smith, passed away. My Smith being a member of the executive, the sympathy of the centre was conveyed to him. The social gathering to visiting bowlers and their wives was an unqualified success and the president (Mr J. A. Nash) suggests it should be held annually. The members of the executive and local bowlers devoted a great deal of energy to make the "-athering a success and are deserving of the- best thanks ol the centre. Mr Nash expresses thanks to the members of the executive for their co-operation and help and to Mr A. F. Wimsett (secretary) for the way he discharged his duties during the year.”
