“FREE” FRENCHMEN HELP
AIR FORCE ACTIVITY
(British Official Wireless.) (Roc. 1.30 p.m.) RUGBY, Sept. 19. The Air Force of the “free” French forces is taking an active part ill co-operation with the British squadrons in the operations* against Italy in Eastern Africa. In this connection it is learned that four airmen—a captain, a lieutenant, and two sub-lieu-tenants —are reported missing. A Nairobi communique during the night of September 17 two raids were«carried out by squadrons of the South African Air Force. Heavy bombs fell into the hangar and building prea at Mogadishu (Italian Somaliland) and a fire was_ started on the tarmac. This was the sixth time Mogadishu had been raided. The Lavello nerodrome (Abyssinia) was also attacked for the sixth time; bombs fell in the encampment, and aircraft and hangars were damaged. Despite intense anti-aircraft fire all our planes returned safely. -
