FOXTON.

Following a meeting of the Foxton. Moutoa Football Club a social was held and Messrs P. Reihana, M. Moses 11. Hamo, ,F. Vortongen and W. Williams were guests of the committee. The president (Mr J. Devonshire) referred to the victory of the local team on Saturday, this being the first time in the history of the Horowhenua Rugby Union, he said, that the senior championship honours had come to Foxton. Mr II Robinson expressed the pleasure he had derived from his work as coach of the senior team, and other speakers eulogised its efforts, l’lio president also congratulated Mr R. Cochran on the juniors winning the championship for 1940, and to the corainittco and to all those who had assisted the club in any way throughout the season, ho extended thanks. Mrs E. Collinson, of Palmerston North, is the guest of her parents, Mr and Mrs F. Woods, of Norbiton Road. At a meeting of the Lawn Tennis Club arrangements were made for the opening of the season in October. Consideration was given to the matter of subscriptions for members going overseas, and it was unanimously decided that such players be treated as temporary members and that the fee payable bo loft to the discretion of the club captain.
