WOODVILLE & DISTRICT
NOTES. This district’s contribution to the Christmas parcels effort was in evidence in the Women’s Institute Hall, yesterday, when linal assembling andpacking operations were carried out by members ol the institute, the Women’s Division; and other helpers. The contents of each parcel are uniform, and it was evident that a great deal of detailed work and careful supervision were required of the many ladies devoting the day to this work. Packing tho goods into minimum -dimensions was not the least ot the precautions to be observed. The sewn outer envelope encloses several "airtight packages, and a total of seven units, these including a sealed plum pudding, shortcake, ginger-nuts, chocolates, cigarettes, stationery and a handkerchief. The Woodville district quota is 60 parcels, and to this achievement the contributing' organisations were Woodville, Ngawapurua, Kumeroa, Hopclands and Papatawa Women’s Institutes and tho Woodville AA'omen’s Division. It is announced that a farewell evening will be tendered to Mr H. G. Wickcs (president of "tlie Woodville Returned Soldiers’ Association) m the K.S.A. cluo rooms tomorrow night. To this function, members and friends arc cordially invited.
