Mr A. Williams, the official Labour candidate, won the Ryde (New South Wales) by-election resulting from the resignation of Mr E. S. Spooner . to contest a Federal seat. Mr. Williams beat Mr A. J. Mitchell, the Government candidate, by 230 votes.
