“DAY OF RECKONING NEAR.” (Rec. 8 a.m.) CHUNGKING, Sept. 18 Marshal Cliiang Kai-shek, in a broadcast on the eve of the Mukden anniversary, promised that China would demur ivlanciiukuo front the Japanese yoke. Marshal Chiang said the day of reckoning for Japan was near. Chinese casualties numbered 1,500,000. As soon as the Japanese had exhausted their supplies of American gasoline and aircraft China would force tile enemy to account for the Chungking air raids. Japan had failed to cow the Chinese, who were all the more enraged, undaunted and determined.
