RATES FOR FIXED DEPOSITS

Ter Press Association. WELLINGTON, Sept. 18. The Associated Banks announce that rates of interest payable on fixed deposits received or renewed on and after September 18 will be as fol'ow'Three months and under 6 months, *J per cent, per annum; 6 months and under 12 months, l* per. cent, per annum; 12 months and under 24 months, 2i per cent, per annum; 24 months 21 per cent, per annum. It will be noted that the 12 and 24 months’ rates are unchanged, tho reduction being in three and six months’ rates, short-term money being unemployable by the banks tat the present time.
