MELODY DANCE CLUB.
On Saturday evening the weekly Melody dance was held in the Empire Hall, solely organised by Miss W. R. Hubbard. The attendance was exceptionally large, testifying to the popularity of these well conducted dances. The programme, which consisted of two old-time dances to one modern, was thoroughly enjoyed by the patrons; novelty prize dances were also included throughout the evening. A novelty tap dance was given bv little Betty Henderson, who was recalled for her splendid performance. The music was supplied by Mr G. Dawson, who also kindly assisted in playing the extras. An outstanding feature was a very creditable demonstration of pupils' presented by Miss Beth Parkes. Their number was the modern waltz, and the encore the one-step. < Those taking part were Miss K. Wishnesky and Mr T. Treleaven, Miss W. Petrie and Mr M. Telford. The exquisite frocks worn by Misses 'Wishnesky and Petrie were of white stiffened frilled net over silver lame, and they had silver shoes. This demonstration undoubtedly caused much admiration and the dancers will be remembered for their graceful performance. The music supplied for the demonstration was played by the full orchestra of five players with excellent tempo. Mr Howard York efficiently carried out the duties of M.C. It was announced _by the M.C. that owing to the Empire Hall being engaged next Saturday for the bulb 6how, the Melody dance will take place in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Cuba Street. Patrons are assured of an excellent evening’s entertainment with a variety programme of old-time and modern dances. Full details are advertised elsewhere in this issue.
