Three learns from the Rongotea Ping Pong Club visited Awahuri to play members of the local club. The results are as follow, Awahuri players being mentioned first \ teams: K. Redmaync beat G Burgess, N. Ihle, J. Johnston, B. Forlong lost to R. Gloyn, F. Vautier; M. Christian beat all but Gloyn and Burgess; D. Christian beat all but Burgess and Gloyn; A. Goodman beat Ihle and Vautier only; K. Matthews beat Ihle, Johnston and Forlong only; A. Simeon, beat Johnston, Vautier and Forlong only; Rongotea, 16 games; Awahuri, 20. B teams: 1), and R. Larkins, B. Redmaync. Ray Mgtthews and Murray Christian all beat T. Wood, J. Parkin, J. Thompson, Miss W. Parker, Mrs W. Gloyn and Mrs R. Gloyn, while Miss D. Goodman lost to T. Wood and J. Parker; Rongot'ea, 2 games; Awahuri 34. C teams: J. Nicholson, T. Pitt, R. Gouldon, Miss, P. Simeon and Jean Goodman beat Misses L. Parker, C. Forlong, 11. Parker, G. Gloyn,'R. Hill and G. Burgess, while R. Hume lost to Misses Hill,and Burgess; Rongotea, 2 games; Awahuri, 34. An enjoyable social evening was spent in the hall on Saturday when members, parents and friends of the Awahuri Ping Pong Club gathered together for the close of the season. Mr A. 11. Goodman was M.C. and the time was spent in games, competitions and dancing to music kindly supplied by Miss Y. Bennett and M. R. Bennett, while the following contributed items: Miss N. Hume (pianoforte solos). Miss Jean Goodman (elocutionary), Mrs J. N. Lucas (humorous), Miss Dorothy Goodman (piano-accordeon solos), Mr T. Pitt (recitation), and native members contributed action songs. Mr Christian (chairman of the club) thanked all those who had assisted in making the evening a success and invited any of those present to join the club. The aim of the club has been to provide suitable entertainment for the young people of the district and this year it has a membership of over 40. In connection with the Christmas parcels appeal, several ladies of the AwahuriKopane area tnet recently and packed 35 parcels ready to be forwarded to Feilding. Those responsible for the canvassing are well pleased with the effort. Mr and Mrs D. Mikkelson, who motored to Matamata and spent a week as guests of Mr and Mrs Alex Mikkelson, have returned home. '
